COD 2 Problem

Hey guys,
Have a little problem with COD2. Last night I installed Xfire so I could get to grips with it and went into a COD2 server. It did the usual downloading of stuff and completely screwed up my profile, changed my name and everything and wouldnt let me change my name back again. So I tried removing that profile and it wouldnt let me - didnt have read or write access to do it. So just created another profile but everytime I went into a game my name was always "Unknown Soldier" and all keys were default. If I booted up the MP on its own (not via Xfire) my profiles were there and my custom key layout too.
Should I be creating the profile in Xfire somewhere?
I have uninstalled the game due to the custom crap installed from a server called "HardCore" and will not be going on that server again but before I start just wondered if others have had this profile issue.

re-install cod2 m8 patch upto 1.3.It should be fine.

erm no too sure about your prob ,but has xfire scanned for all your installed games? has xfire updated its self? i will have a look but im sure theres a tab that will allow you to scan and ask to update have a look, as for hardcore you get lots of these you just have to pick the one you want to run with ..i think....sure someone will pounce on me!!! brb

to scan your games.....tools ...options.....games

lots of other stuff in Options perhap you can check against you setup?

Cheers guys, did a reinstall and added patch, seems ok now. also turned off the downloading option

doing this will mean that if u join a server that uses a certain mod, eg. DeD use a mod i cant recall which, then you wont be albe to play on that server until you download the mod by means outside of the game.

you could always make ur profile read only?

go to your cod2 players directory

in my case its
C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\players\DaZzA

you will see a file called
config_mp

right mouse click it and select properties

tick the read only box and press ok

This will stop any server commands overiting your default commands in config.
